Created in the 1960s, the innovative Ocean Star Skin Diver Watch used a multicoloured scale to display decompression times. Today, the Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer retains this vintage charm, and the addition of an additional time zone display propels it towards new horizons. Mido has used the latest technologies in their continual quest for excellence: Super-LumiNova®, a glassbox-style sapphire crystal, the formidable Calibre 80 with Nivachron™ balance-spring and GMT function, as well an easy change additional strap.

With an original-style decompression table and GMT function with a bezel that shows the world time, Mido continues to ride on the success of a legendary piece with two special editions, taking it to new heights

A starfish engraved on the screw-down case back emphasises Mido’s historic achievements in the field of water resistance, both way back in 1934 with their Aquadura system, and now with this new model water-resistant up to a pressure of 20 bar (200 m/660 ft). It is enough to revive the diving spirit of the 1960s, surfing through frontiers, testing the limits of jet lag and the waves themselves.

Irresistible retro look…

On a navy blue background, the applied and polished original Mido logo stands out on this very special dial. Paying homage to the famous Ocean Star Skin Diver Watch of the 1960s, this latest piece displays decompression times to a depth of 6 metres using circles of yellow, green, pink and blue. The rotating bezel, which is fitted with a blue aluminium ring, has the largest cities in the world marked on it in silver.

A red arrow indicates the travel time zone, contrasting with the flat and diamond cut hour, minute and second hands for the “home time”. Non-tinted Super-LumiNova® is used to highlight the hands for the hours, minutes and seconds, and additional time zone as well the indices and the dot on the bezel. In the 3 o’clock position, a window displays the date. The exceptional dial is protected by a sapphire crystal in a “glassbox” shape that is reminiscent of the plexiglas used at that time.

… with resolutely modern performance!

Mido designed the Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer to withstand any conditions and to do it with flair. Therefore, the model features a strong and durable polished stainless steel case with a very practical diameter of 40.5 mm. It is complemented by the first strap, which is made of navy blue rubber with a texture inspired by the fashions of the 1960s. An ingenious system allows the strap to be changed in a blink of an eye, and replaced with a Milanese mesh second strap.

The screw-down case back and crown contribute to its water resistance of up to 200 metres and protect the calibre 80 from water damage. The extreme reliability of this Swiss automatic movement equipped with a GMT function, counts on a generous power reserve of up to 80 hours and a Nivachron™ balance-spring – providing exceptional resistance to magnetism and shock, which makes it particularly durable.
