OCEAN STAR 200C Titanium – Light and technically sophisticated to face the seas

At sea and on land, the Ocean Star 200C Titanium evokes an ocean ambience when worn on the wrist: robust, efficient and light

Dressed in ultralight titanium and displaying the stature of a high-tech sports watch, the new Mido Ocean Star 200C Titanium beckons towards freedom on and under the ocean’s waves. Its rotating bezel in shiny black ceramic contrasts with the matt black dial adorned with a decorative wave design. A robust 42.5 mm case in polished, satin-finished titanium guarantees water-resistance up to 200 metres, and is prolonged by a bracelet featuring a clasp that incorporates a diving extension in the same material. Wide indexes and luminous hands provide optimal readability under water and at night. This understated and efficient watch owes its reliability to the Caliber 80 movement offering a power reserve of up to 80 hours.

Despite its extreme lightness, making it so comfortable on the wrist that you hardly feel it, the Ocean Star 200C Titanium can withstand any challenge.

At Europe’s southernmost point stands an architectural construction built to withstand any storm, which has unfailingly watched over the Gibraltar Strait since 1841: the Europa Point Lighthouse. Its powerful beam of light helps sailors to find their bearings on the often-rough waters between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Created by Mido in 1944, the Ocean Star collection is characterised by its reliability, just like this monument, built to safely guide men as they embark on new maritime conquests.

With its understated and technical appearance, the new Ocean Star 200C Titanium inspires a desire for adventure at sea. Its matt black dial decorated with ripples – a reference to the collection’s marine influence – provides a counterpoint to the large round indexes and diamond-cut hands coated with white Super-LumiNova®. Information thus remains clear and immediately readable, by day or night, under water or on land. A triangle marks the hour circle at 12 o’clock: a signature feature of watches inspired by the world of diving. Both functional and practical, the display is completed by the indication of the day and date at 3 o’clock, and is protected by a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment on both sides. The unidirectional rotating bezel is equipped with an extremely hard black ceramic ring, which features 60-minute graduations and a white Super-LumiNova® dot at 12 o’clock.

Extremely light, making it unnoticeable on the wrist, the Ocean Star 200C Titanium can nonetheless face any challenge. Its 42.5 mm case, carved from titanium, is water-resistant up to a pressure of 20 bar (200 m/660 ft) due to its screw-down case back and crown. The interplay of materials and finishes continues on the case back, which is engraved with a starfish in relief, and on the satin-finished titanium bracelet, which is equipped with a clasp incorporating a diving extension for greater wearing comfort.

The lightness and efficiency of the new Ocean Star 200C Titanium stem from a particularly reliable mechanism driven by the Caliber 80 movement. This emblematic Mido movement has a power reserve of up to 80 hours to ensure exceptional ease of use. Although invisible, protected by the screw-down case back, its oscillating weight is delicately decorated with Geneva stripes in line with Swiss watchmaking tradition.
